Only 2 hours north of Durban, in Zululand, Thula Thula Private Game Reserve is a 4500 ha wildlife sanctuary and home to big game as buffalo, elephant, leopard, rhino and superb birdlife. Thula Thula offers you the choice of exclusive accommodation between the stylish ELEPHANT SAFARI LODGE, renowned gourmet destination, and the LUXURY TENTED CAMP, offering an authentic African bush experience in a relaxed atmosphere and where children are welcome. Thula Thula CONFERENCE CENTER, and its elegantly decorated boardroom with lounge can welcome up to 32 delegates.

Game drives and bush walks are conducted on the Thula Thula private game reserve by our professional rangers and trackers. Game viewing includes elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, giraffe, crocodile, hyena, wildebeest, kudu, nyala, zebra and many more, including exceptional birdlife.

LUXURY TENTED CAMP
Rediscover Nature in great style and true to the African safari camp of a past era at the Thula Thula luxury tented camp, where the peaceful essence of the African bush can be heard and felt. Exclusivity is assured with only 8 luxury tents, all with private viewing decks, fans, mosquito nets and luxurious en suite bathroom with Victorian bath and outside shower.
Enjoy a private living experience and couple that with the chance to enjoy a private candle-lit dining experience and you have the perfect blend for an intimate romantic safari. Beds in the luxury safari tents are 2 x ¾ beds and en suite bathroom with victoria bath and outside shower. Each tent also feature a private veranda.

LUXURY SAFARI TENT – DINING AND AMENITIES
A buffet lunch is served around the outside thatched bar or by the swimming pool. Dine under the stars in the boma for a traditional South African braai or a potjie (meat with vegetables cooked on the fire in a cast iron pot)
An air conditioned lounge with TV-DSTV, and game room for children. This lounge is also an art gallery for paintings from local artists who donated their artwork for the Thula Thula Rhino Fund

SUITE ROYALE – ELEPHANT SAFARI LODGEThe Suite Royale is perfect for honeymoon couples or special celebrations. With a large king size four-poster bed, separate lounge area, en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, bath with bush view and twin basins. Superb bush views from a veranda which overlooks the watering hole.

The deluxe rooms with a queen sized four-poster bed, en-suite bathroom with single basin and shower, as well as a veranda overlooking the bush.
LUXURY SAFARI SUITE – ELEPHANT SAFARI LODGE
The luxury rooms are approximately 35 sqm, three of the luxury chalets have 2 x ¾ four- poster beds and 1 of the chalets has a queen size four-poster bed. The en-suite bathrooms have twin basins, bath and shower. Each luxury chalet has a veranda over-looking the bush. Additional single beds for children can be put into the luxury rooms on request.

CUISINE AT THULA THULA
OUR CUISINE IS OUR PRIDE
A fusion of the most delicate fare combined with exotic flavours and enhanced with the finest South African wines make Thula Thula one of the most renowned gourmet destinations in KwaZulu-Natal. Menus offer a great selection of seafood, venison and the best vegetarian dishes.
The Zulu dinner and venison braai (barbecue) around the fire in the Boma include a vast selection of delicious traditional Zulu dishes cooked on the fire in cast iron pots, accompanied with slow roasted leg of venison served with red wine sauce and marinated whole fillet cooked on the barbecue with a choice of vegetable cooked in the fire.
Elephant Safari Lodge Bar
The Marula Bar is in a thatched lapa which overlooks the waterhole; great game viewing and magnificent birdlife can be enjoyed with a refreshing beer, exotic cocktail or fine wine. Drinks at the bar will be charged to the guest’s room account for settlement on departure.
THULA THULA CONFERENCE
The air-conditioned conference room is approximately 150m from the main lapa. The conference room is private with great bush views, seats 32 delegates cinema style (approx 6m x 12m) and has a separate air-conditioned breakaway lounge with bar, library and TV / DVD.
A private garden with tables and chairs offers bush views with an adjacent tea & coffee station for breaks. The conference area has its own separate toilets. The conference room is equipped with a pull-down screen for overhead projection. All AV equipment can be sourced locally on request or brought in by the delegates.
Group lunches can be served on the terrace of the lapa and group dinners in the boma. Suggested team building activities include bush walks and interactive game drives.

Elephant Lodge: Children over 8 years old are welcome in the Elephant Lodge and pay 50% of the adult rate. Children under 8 are welcome by prior arrangement.
Tented Camp : Children from 2 to under 12 years old pay 50% off the adult rate when sharing with 2 adults.
Family tent is sold on a minimum 3 beds basis, 5 maximum.
Children under 4 are not allowed on game drive or bush walks.
Special mini bush walks are organised for children during their parent’s activities.
Baby-sitting can be arranged at R 50 per hour. Malaria free.
Safari Lodge - Deluxe Rooms (qty 2)
The deluxe rooms are approximately 25 sqm, with a queen sized four post bed, en-suite bathroom with single basin and shower and a veranda which overlooks the bush. The deluxe rooms are ideal for single occupancy.
Luxury Chalets (qty 4)
The luxury rooms are approximately 35 sqm, 3 of the luxury chalets have 2¾ four post beds and 1 of the chalets has a queen size four post bed. The en-suite bathroom has twin basins and a bath and shower en-suite.
Each luxury chalet has a veranda which overlooks the bush. Additional single beds for children can be put into the luxury rooms on request.
Suite Royale (qty 1)
The Suite Royale is perfect for honeymoon couples; with a large king size four post bed. The Suite Royale is approximately 75 sqm, has a separate lounge area, en-suite bathroom with large walk in shower, bath with bush view and twin basins, slippers are also provided. Suite Royale has superb bush views and a veranda which overlooks the watering hole.
Suite Imperiale (qty 1)
The Suite Imperial is approximately 80 sqm; with two double beds (four post), lounge area with chez lounge, en-suite bathroom with large walk in shower, bath with bush view and twin basins, slippers are also provided. Suite Imperiale has superb bush views and a veranda which is ideally situated to watch the sun go down.
Luxury Tent (qty 6)
The luxury tents are spacious and luxurious, each tent has two ¾beds, en-suite bathroom with single basin, bath and outside shower.
Family Tent (qty 2)
The family tents are furnished in a colonial style with two ¾ beds, 2 single beds (separated from ¾ beds with a panel room divider), en-suite bathroom with twin basins, Victorian bath and large head shower.
