Dulini Leadwood Lodge – Sabi Sand
Dulini Leadwood captivates its guests by taking deep root in their hearts, much like the ancient Leadwood trees after which the Lodge is named.
In the western part of the well known Sabi Sand Game Reserve is Dulini Leadwood Lodge and is the ultimate safari choice for discerning travellers in search of luxurious exclusivity and solitude. Four luxury suites nestled in the stunning riverside elbow where the Sand River and Mabrak Rivers confluence. Dulini Leadwood Lodge offers an intimate and serene getaway that is completely at peace with the bush that surrounds it. The rocky banks of the river lie right at the foot of the lodge’s main deck from which you can catch sight of passing game, including herds of elephants as they stroll down to the river to enjoy a drink
Used to be Exeter Leadwood
For many years the lodge was known as Exeter Leadwood, however, during mid-2016 the lodge management was switched to the Dulini brand.
Accommodation at Dulini Leadwood Lodge
The contemporary elegance of the Leadwood Suites is complemented by the chic attention of personal butlers, and the exclusivity of the experience is extended to the safari where no more than six guests are accommodated on the customised Land Rover.
The Lodge is a tactile blend of boldly expressed and contrasted materials – crushed stone, raw cement, dark meranti, rough granite and glass. Each suite has a fireplace which is begging for a chilly night so that it can give you an excuse to snuggle closer to your partner. Sitting room and private pool.
With only three suites carefully distanced from each other, Dulini Leadwood Lodge offers the idyllic honeymoon setting. It can also ideally accommodate parties of friends and families who want to share an exclusive group experience without intruding on each other’s privacy. The three magnificent suites, with inspiring views of the Sand River, are lavishly appointed in contemporary style with every creature comfort imaginable. Dulini Leadwood’s safari vehicles are designed to carry no more than 6 guests. However, when booked for sole use, a fourth suite may be made available to parties that are happy with 8 guests on their safari vehicle.
Set out in an open 4×4 safari vehicle in the company of a ranger and tracker team, who will attempt to track your favourite animals. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is well known for its leopard sightings and you may well spot one of these elusive cats resting after a successful night hunt. You will stop for refreshments at a scenic spot during your drive.
Dulini’s professionally trained guides will ask you about your favourite wildlife and will do their best to ensure that your preferences are met, whether it is tracking a particular species or spending more time enjoying each sighting and getting to know the habits of the animals. They will also tell you about the vegetation of the region and will explain the behaviour of the animals that you come across. In some cases, the guides will be able to identify individual animals and let you know about their history and habits.

The traffic of game frequenting the trails through and beyond the camp and riverbed may be enjoyed from the cantilevered deck tented by a leafy Jackalberry. It is not uncommon to secretly witness the passage of an elusive leopard from this vantage point. The deck also offers an alternative venue for enjoying the rich fare at meal times.
Traditionally known as “the boma”, this truly African dining venue boasts a ceiling of stars and a roaring fire. It is around the Boma fire that friendships are sealed and all African bush yarns are spun – grandiose tales of fearsome beasts and great escapes are always more memorable when shared around the camp fire.
Our wine cellar boasts a collection of South Africa’s finest wines. Whether sunning at the pool, resting in the shade of the Leadwoods or enjoying an intimate dinner, we will have something special in our cellar. Guests are invited to peruse our wine list at the time of reservation and to let us know if there are any wines that they would like us to procure that are not currently in stock. Every effort will be made to have these requests available in time for your visit.
